Welcome to the Georgia Association of Floodplain Management Website

The formation of GAFM is the result of the concerted efforts of numerous individuals and organizations sharing a common desire to forward the cause of sound floodplain management. Membership in GAFM is open to all professionals, public and private entities, students and citizens interested in or involved in floodplain, watershed, stormwater, wetlands and hazard mitigation management and/or related disciplines within the State of Georgia. 2018 GAFM Metro Atlanta Fall Symposium

GAFM is excited to announce the 2018 GAFM Metro Atlanta Fall Symposium! The symposium will feature speakers from around the Metro Atlanta Area who work in the field of floodplain management. Please join us Thursday, November 8th, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The event will take place in the Metro Atlanta area, exact location to be finalized at a later date.

Registration for the 2018 GAFM Conference is Open!

Registration for GAFM's 2018 Annual Technical Conference is now open! The conference is being hosted in Athens from March 19-22, 2018. To learn more about the conference and to register for the conference, please visit our 2018 Annual Conference page.

Presentation Submissions for GAFM's 2018 Conference are Now Closed

GAFM is no longer accepting presentation abstracts for its 2018 conference, but we would like to sincerely thank everyone who submitted abstracts for the 2018 conference. We received a diverse group of thought-provoking topics, and we are incredibly excited for the learning opportunities that will be offered at the 2018 conference. If you submitted a presentation abstract, you can expect to hear back from GAFM by the end of January with regards to the acceptance of your abstract, and if accepted, your scheduled date and time. Thank you for all of your contributions!

GAFM Now Accepting Presentations for 2018 Conference

The deadline for submitting presentation abstracts is December 15, 2017. The conference will be hosted at the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel in Athens from March 19-22, 2018! Abstracts can be submitted at the following link:

GAFM Announces Location of 2018 Annual Conference - Athens!!

GAFM is pleased to announce that the 2018 Annual Technical Conference will be hosted by the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel in Athens! The theme for the 2018 conference is 'No Drought about It - A Flood is Coming'.

The conference will take place from March 19-22, 2018. The annual Golf Outing will occur on Monday, March 19, and the pre-conference field trips will occur during the morning of Tuesday, March 20. The start of the main conference will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 20, and the conference will end at 12:00 pm on Thursday, March 22, with the CFM exam being offered immediately after the conference from 1:00-4:00 pm on Thursday, March 22. More information about registering for the exam and other aspects of the conference will be posted as soon as details are finalized.
